殺生ヒュッテのテン場から槍ヶ岳を望む

上高地→明神→徳沢→横尾→槍沢→殺生ヒュッテ

本当はババ平までの予定が、まだ行けるんじゃね？ってなり、殺生ヒュッテまで足を伸ばしました。道中の急登がホントにキツかったんですが、この景色が拝めて、感無量です！
いよいよ明日、槍ヶ岳に登るのかぁって、アタック前日のワクワク感が甦ります！

キャンプでも、登山でも良く使ってますが、幕体が390gと激軽、これがないとテント泊登山で、ここまでこれなかったと思います。

The campground in the alpine environment in the Japanese Northern Alps, such as the campsite of Hotakadake Hut, is very narrow and has a small footprint.

Basically, the footprint of the pyramid-shaped shelter is bigger than the dome tent to keep the same amount of space.

Of course you can figure it out to set up the pyramid shaped shelter in these tight environment somehow.

But it is much easier to use a free-standing dome tent in such a harsh environment.

穂高岳小屋キャンプ場など北アルプスの高山環境にあるキャンプ場は非常に狭く、テントの設置面積も小さいです。

基本的に、ピラミッド型シェルターの設置面積は、同じスペースを確保するためにドームテントよりも大きくなります。

もちろん、このような狭い環境になんとかピラミッド型のシェルターを設置する方法は考えられます。

しかし、このような過酷な環境では、自立式ドームテントを使用するのがはるかに簡単です。

Introducing Djedi DCF-B.

As a legacy of the Djedi DCF-eVent, which was suspended due to stopping producing the material, we are thrilled to introduce Djedi DCF-B.

Djedi DCF-B has the same shape as Djedi DCF-eVent but it has two air vents. It means that normal DCF has no breathability so it requires to have more airflow reducing condensation. (However, the condensation is not avoidable with nonbreathable material.)

Djedi DCF-B will be available soon. please stay tuned.

South face direct, Peña Santa de Castilla, Picos de Europa, Asturias, Spain, V+, 13-pitch, 2250 ft

Third big route of the summer. Quite different to Asgard but no less epic, perhaps more!

The building thunder clouds caught me off guard as we approached the amazing limestone runnells of the upper pitches.

We had a rest day in the gorgeous meadow & planned to bivy on top, taking our time but employing our favoured fix & family follow trick using a 100m rope to make rapid progress up the huge face. But pre-dawn starts are tough for kids, the 30C+ heat on the south face was draining, my 20kg load & double lap of the route all took time.

The storm broke just below the top on the most exposed, steepest part. The kids embraced the severity of the situation with minimal fuss, gore-texed up & climbed with extra gusto into the storm making this Dad very proud.

The electrical charge in the summit air was hair raising, literally. We didn't loiter. A rope length lower I terraced a tiny tent platform in a sheltered spot. We ate & watched a glorious sunset during a lull.

Then the most violent 'tormenta electrica' I've endured in 20 years savaged the western massif of the Picos. A full scale blitz of Thor thunder & Zues lightening erupted above. It was hard to compute how comfortable, warm & dry we were as we cuddled tightly & the tempest raged outside our single walled tent. Astonishingly Jackson slept soundly through it!

By morning it had passed & we began the complex descent. An ill informed choice on my behalf below the raps led to a 7000ft, 12-hour continuous descent down endless, high-consequence hairpins in even more brutal heat with just one bottle of water between us to finally reach ice cream in Cain de Valdeón.

I was vommitting with heat exhaustion. Jess & kids were fine & had a double scoop?! Big respect to my little people & to the alpine mama with the mostest @jessica.corrie

Easy experiences are not the formative ones, it's the hardest that form true grit.

(But now let's go to the beach)
